Rick Astley became an overnight sensation in the late 80s with his well-crafted dance-pop and a deep, rich voice.
Astley was discovered by the producer Pete Waterman singing in the English soul band FBI. After that came a cover of Nat King Cole’s When I Fall in Love, which reached Christmas No.1 in 1987.
After releasing an album of covers, including Cry Me A River and Vincent, it was the new viral phenomenon of RickRolling that thrust him back into the limelight once again. It proved so popular that Rick was voted ‘Best Act Ever’ by internet voters at the MTV awards.
