Known for his laid back and intelligent musical comedy, Bill has sold out arenas, led the BBC Concert Orchestra, acted in the West End, filmed apes in Indonesia and waltzed off with the Strictly crown. He looks at new ideas for a national anthem, and tries his hand at Iranian hip-hop.

Biography

Aside from his talent as an entertainer, for which he received a British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up, Bill Bailey has also made his mark as an actor. He starred in the Channel 4 sitcoms Black Books and Spaced, and in the feature films Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, Burke and Hare, and Hot Fuzz.

A panel show regular, from QI to Have I Got News... Bill is also well known as a former team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. However, nowhere is his virtuosity so apparent as live onstage, surrounded by an array of instruments, peddling his slightly shambolic, fiercely intelligent and often surprising blend of musical messing and general silliness. Bill has performed to sell-out audiences in the West End and in New York, and has toured his stand-up shows around the world.

As if writing and performing were not enough, Bill has also organised, produced, and starred in the West End production Pinter’s People, a collection of sketches and scenes written by Harold Pinter. He also put in an impressive, series-winning performance on Strictly Come Dancing.
