One of the most popular food writers and broadcasters around, Nigella is famous for her unpretentious, friendly take on cooking, revelling especially in indulgent dishes. From Nigella Bites to The Taste, her shows have been international hits, as have her books, including How to be a Domestic Goddess and Nigella Christmas.

Biography

Nigella Lawson is a writer, broadcaster and businesswoman, known for her unique take on indulgent food and cooking in a series of TV programmes and books. Starting her career in print journalism, including early stints as restaurant critic at The Spectator and deputy literary editor of the Sunday Times, Nigella soon found her food niche. After a decade or so as a freelance, she penned How to Eat, a guide to getting the basics of cooking right and an intelligent look at understanding food. That was followed by How to be a Domestic Goddess. The book continued her friendly, natural approach encouraging readers to enjoy and experiment with food rather than give strict instructions. The huge success of the books saw her take on a weekly news column in the Observer as well as her first TV shows.

Now an international star, Nigella’s books have sold into the tens of millions and her programmes are some of the most popular food shows on television. Her instantly recognisable style combines an unpretentious and genuine love of food with a relaxed, down-to-earth professionalism. Her biggest series include Nigella Bites, Nigellissima, and Simply Nigella. She’s also starred as a mentor on the UK and US series of cooking contest The Taste (on which she was also a producer), hosted cookery slots on Ellen DeGeneres’ chat show, and joined MasterChef Australia and the American series Iron Chef as a judge.

Away from her own shows Nigella has appeared on everything from The One Show to Question Time on TV, and Start the Week to The News Quiz on radio. She’s regularly written for the Telegraph and Vogue, has been voted Voted Author of the Year in the British Book Awards, and has her own successful cookware range.
