As well as a decade on Channel 5 Matt’s career has taken in BBC News, Radio 1, ITV and covering everything from the Oscars to pro cycling. He's now at Sky News covering UK news and event throughout the week.


Biography

Before joining Sky News, Matt Barbet presented Channel 5’s main 5 News and 5 News Tonight bulletins for over a decade. He went on to combine his broadcast work with his passion for cycling on ITV's The Cycle Show, and serving as a partner at renowned PR and strategy agency Freuds.

After starting his news career at Radio 1, Matt presented bulletins for BBC News and BBC London, with occasional stints on BBC Breakfast. He then moved to Channel 5. He hosted all of their news programmes during his time with the broadcaster, and reported from the scene of the Haitian earthquake and was embedded with the Army in Afghanistan. Matt then moved to ITV to co-host their breakfast show Daybreak as well as continuing with news presenting duties for the channel. When Daybreak finished its run, Matt returned to Channel 5. After his time at Freuds he went back to broadcast news, presenting UK news programmes on Sky News, as well as a weekly Sunday morning show.

A passionate cyclist and bike fan, Matt has hosted of ITV4’s The Cycle Show (he’s also written for Cyclist and Cycling Plus, has completed the gruelling L'Étape du Tour in the French Alps as well as a number of long-distance road routes, and hosts the Home Roads cycling podcast).

Matt has also hosted BBC News 24’s STORYFix and presented regional feeds for Children in Need. He’s covered the Oscars and a royal wedding and competed in a charity edition of The Chase. In print, he’s written for The Independent, Monocle, Cycling Plus and has a monthly column in Bikes Etc.

Date TBC.  We will be looking at high-performance and mindset with our two excellent speakers.

Guenther Steiner is the Former Team Principal of F1’s Haas, a role he held from the team’s inception until this year. Under his leadership, he grew Haas into one of the sport’s leading independent teams.

Joining Guenther on stage will be broadcaster and behavioural scientist Paul Mckenna, who has written a number of bestselling books, and works on how psychology and mindset can impact achievement.

Navigating Risk and Chaos – Strategies For Coping With An Uncertain World.

On Tuesday 17th September we had the pleasure of hearing from a remarkable panel of speakers, who shared their expertise on the challenges of managing Risk in a chaotic world.

The panel featured esteemed speakers, Dr. Sabrina Cohen-Hatton KFSM (Firefigter and Neuroscience researcher), Lord Parker of Minsmere (Andrew Parker, Former Director General of MI5), and Sir Robin Niblett (Former Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House). The event was hosted superbly by Mastermind and BBC News presenter Clive Myrie.

Over the hour, our panellists explored Risk on multiple levels, from global affairs to business environments and personal everyday challenges. They provided valuable insights into how we can better manage and mitigate Risk in today’s unpredictable world.
