Biography

A popular, award-winning and long-standing BBC business journalist, Declan Curry is noted for his easy-going manner and ability to put complex business and economic news into simpler language.

After early jobs cleaning in hotels and working on building sites, Declan moved into journalism, firstly in print, then broadcasting for LBC. He then moved to the BBC where he spent over two decades, mainly covering events in the markets and business world.

Declan became best-known for his reports from the London Stock Exchange every morning for BBC Breakfast. He also dispensed market analysis and gossip for the BBC News Channel and America's ABC News before going on to host BBC2's Working Lunch. He returned to the News Channel reporting and presenting Your Money, making him one of the very few presenters to have been on the channel since its inception.

On radio, Declan covered business for Radio 5Live, appearing daily and presenting On The Money, the weekend business show as well as explaining the basics of money management on the personal finance show It’s Your Money, and Wake Up To Money. Declan has written a weekly column for Investors Chronicle and contributed to a wide range of international publications.

Declan now applies his knowledge and experience speaking at and chairing events around the world for companies, trade bodies, charities and academic institutions. His ability to combine serious insight and rigourous analysis with a lightness of touch and approachability has made him a popular presence at events from London to Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro to Kuala Lumpur.

Date TBC.  We will be looking at high-performance and mindset with our two excellent speakers.

Guenther Steiner is the Former Team Principal of F1’s Haas, a role he held from the team’s inception until this year. Under his leadership, he grew Haas into one of the sport’s leading independent teams.

Joining Guenther on stage will be broadcaster and behavioural scientist Paul Mckenna, who has written a number of bestselling books, and works on how psychology and mindset can impact achievement.

On Tuesday 17th September we had the pleasure of hearing from a remarkable panel of speakers, who shared their expertise on the challenges of managing Risk in a chaotic world.

The panel featured esteemed speakers, Dr. Sabrina Cohen-Hatton KFSM (Firefigter and Neuroscience researcher), Lord Parker of Minsmere (Andrew Parker, Former Director General of MI5), and Sir Robin Niblett (Former Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House). The event was hosted superbly by Mastermind and BBC News presenter Clive Myrie.

Over the hour, our panellists explored Risk on multiple levels, from global affairs to business environments and personal everyday challenges. They provided valuable insights into how we can better manage and mitigate Risk in today’s unpredictable world.
