As the upcoming general election looms on the horizon, businesses everywhere are preparing for the usual mix of political drama, plot twists, and the occasional Twitter meltdown. Enter the election expert – the seasoned analyst; the journalist who has seen it all; and indeed the former politician (of which there will be a lot more of very soon) who can decode the chaos and predict what the implications are for business.

Think of them as your political Gandalf, guiding you through the labyrinth of campaign promises, policy shifts, and regulatory changes. “When in doubt, always follow your nose” probably doesn’t work for my analogy, but I’m sticking with it…

But why should businesses bother hiring an expert to talk about the election? As Michael Gove (who will be available from the 5th July) put it, haven’t we all “had enough of experts”?

For starters, guessing how an election will impact your industry is about as effective as predicting the weather by looking at a crystal ball. An expert brings clarity to the madness, translating political gibberish into actionable insights. They can help your company prepare for any scenario, from a sudden tax overhaul to new trade policies, all while keeping you entertained with their uncanny ability to make sense of the nonsensical – much like deciphering one of Boris Johnson’s speeches.

Here are just some of the fantastic political speakers who will be able to provide some insight into the Genny Lex (General Election for squares, unlike me):

Ed Balls

Former Shadow Chancellor

Ed Balls is a British politician, economist, and broadcaster. A member of the Labour Party, he served as Secretary of State for Children, Schools, and Families from 2007 to 2010 and as Shadow Chancellor from 2011 to 2015. All of which put him in a perfect position to describe how an incoming Labour government will have an impact on your business. He also dances a mean Salsa.
