Having led Twitter's business across three continents, and worked with some of the world's biggest companies, Bruce now examines the lessons in what makes a company great, and what motivates people in their jobs. He is the author of The Joy of Work: 30 Ways to Fix Your Work Culture and Fall in Love with Your Job Again, and host of the Eat Sleep Work Repeat podcast. Bruce is regarded as one the most respected thought leaders on the subject of workplace culture, and the future of work.
Bruce Daisley was Twitter’s Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Asia having formerly served as its UK Director. He joined the company from Google where he ran the company’s UK display business, growing it from the 30th to the second largest in the market. This included work with YouTube and the Google Display Network. Now a writer and consultant, Bruce focuses on how to create a positive, values-led organisation, robust culture, and a well-balanced, healthy working life.
At the start of his career Bruce worked to take ‘traditional’ print media into the digital world. He was Digital Sales Director at Bauer Advertising, formerly Emap, where he ran their digital business. He also served as Chairman of Association of Online Publishers Commercial Group. His move to Twitter started with a remit to acts as a bridge between other media and Twitter users, enabling people to find what they consider important and people who think likewise.
His experiences with some of the world's biggest and fastest moving companies led Bruce to look at what underpins the great teams and what motivates the individuals that build these organisations. He also looked at where things didn't always go right. His podcast Eat Sleep Work Repeat examined what work meant, what motivated some but not others, and dispelled myths around what success and productivity looked like. The podcast led to his bestselling book The Joy of Work: 30 Ways to Fix Your Work Culture and Fall in Love with Your Job Again, a practical look at bringing value and fulfilment to work. In the book Eat Sleep Work Repeat: 30 Hacks for Bringing Joy to Your Job, Bruce again distilled his research into workplace behaviours, attitudes, and cultures to deliver a simple set of actions for individuals and organisations to improve and to deliver both profits and positive experiences. He also looks at fundamental shifts in work, from employee expectations to the pros and cons of working, managing, and building a culture remotely.
In his book Fortitude: Unlocking the Secrets of Inner Strength, Bruce disproves the myth that only extraordinary people are successful and shows how to achieve a sense of control through simple mind exercises. He takes the notion of resilience apart, explains how it really works, and puts forward a new programme for building self-confidence and tenacity, which he calls Fortitude.
In his business career Bruce was awarded ‘Greatest Individual Contribution to New Media’ by New Media Age.
