One of Britain’s best loved broadcasters, Chris Evans originally made his name in radio before hosting a clutch of TV shows that defined nineties light entertainment in the UK, Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush, The Big Breakfast and TFI Friday.
Starting in local radio in Manchester, Chris quickly graduated to Radio 1 where his brand of comedy and chat became an instant hit. He switched to TV to front Channel 4’s new morning show The Big Breakfast with Gabby Roslin and Paula Yates, before leaving to launch his own production company Ginger Productions. Their first programme, Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush, became a huge hit and the format sold around the world.
Chris returned to his first love as host of the Radio 1 breakfast show. He combined radio duties with hosting and producing Channel 4’s TFI Friday - an anarchic mix of celebrity interview and comedy consciously targeted at a pre-pub audience.
After selling his production company and a spell at Virgin Radio, Chris returned to the BBC as part of the revamped Radio 2 schedule hosting the drivetime show and then took over the breakfast show from Sir Terry Wogan. After leaving Radio 2 he returned to Virgin Radio where he now hosts the breakfast show.
