Sir Geoff Hurst Daniel Smith

Fee Band

McDonald’s Director of Football is still the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final and then make a new start as an insurance salesman. Geoff talks about how the game has changed, and the extraordinary experience of lifting the Jules Rimet trophy.

Biography

Geoff Hurst will always be best known for scoring the hat-trick in England’s 1966 World Cup Final triumph. His achievement has never been matched.

Geoff joined West Ham as an apprentice and went on to become the First Division’s leading goalscorer for six consecutive years. In a distinguished career, he won 49 caps and scored 24 goals for England. After hanging up his boots he enjoyed a brief spell in football management before achieving business success in insurance.

Geoff speaks about his experiences in football, how the game has changed since his time, and the extraordinary experience of lifting the Jules Rimet trophy alongside fellow greats like Bobby Moore, Gordon Banks and Bobby and Jackie Charlton.

Now based abroad but still working as Director of Football for McDonald’s, Geoff is involved in a number of programmes aimed at encouraging kids to be active and to enjoy football at a young age.
